Astaldi Group, as part of a joint venture with the Turkish construction firm,Ic Ictas (TR, 50%), is performing the contract to extend Pulkovo International Airport in Saint Petersburg, Russia's number four airport as regards number of passengers.

The project involves the construction of a main building (95,475 sqm) that will house the new terminal featuring 85 check-in desks, boarding gates and links to car parks and the already existing ''Pulkovo 1'' and ''North Pier'' terminals. The project aims to increase the airport's capacity to 14,000,000 passengers per year, guaranteeing a IATA Level C Service, and to be classified as the Baltic region's most important airport.

The contract (EPC, Engineering, Procurement and Construction) has a total value of EUR 710 million (Astaldi holds a 50% stake).

The project has been commissioned by Northern Capital Gateway (NCG), an international consortium involving Fraport (Frankfurt Airport Group), an international leader in airport management, VTB Capital (VTB Group), the second most important bank in Russia, and Copelouzos Group, a business developer working in the international industrial and technological sectors.
