Description

The Chacayes dam forms part of the Alto Cachapoal project, an initiative worth over 1 billion dollars which involves the construction of a series of hydroelectric plants throughout the country.

The plant will have a capacity of 111MW and will involve the construction of over 6 kilometres of tunnels and a complex water pipe network.

The works have been commissioned by the Australian group Pacific Hydro, one of the most important groups worldwide in the development of energy production plants and renewable energies.

The plant was put into service in October 2011.
