Description
The Balambano dam project sprang from the need to increase electric power production so as to supply the industrial extraction area used to produce nickel located on the island of Sulawesi in Indonesia.
The works involved the construction of a RCC dam with a volume of 520,000 m3, a hydroelectric plant equipped with two 137MW Francis turbines, a diversion tunnel, cofferdams, a spillway, an intake structure and 2 penstocks measuring 320 metres in length and with a diameter of 5 metres plus ancillary works.
