ASTALDI: NEW ORDERS TOTALLING EUR 193 MILLION IN THE AMERICAS

Astaldi Group has been awarded two new construction contracts totalling EUR 193 million referring to Astaldi’s stake, for projects in Chile and Mexico.

The two new construction contracts refer to the following projects:

• Mexico, Land Transport Intermodal Hub (Centro Intermodal de Transporte Terrestre - CITT) at Mexico City’s new International Airport: EPC contract worth USD 350 million, EUR 120 million of which refers to Astaldi Group’s stake. The contract represents the Astaldi Group's first step in a new market, Mexico, which fits into Astaldi's geographical diversification strategy and which offers major development opportunities in the reference sector. As per the Group’s strategy, its entry into a new country plays on a partnership with a local contractor on this occasion too: the works will be performed in joint venture with Arendal Group, one of the operators in Mexico’s infrastructure market. The contract, inter alia, provides for the construction of a 5-floor facility, based on the design by the architect Norman Foster, which will be used as a hub for land transport connected to the city’s new international airport, currently under construction. The hub will have a total surface area of 450,000 square metres. The roof will be used as a green area. The works will have an estimated duration of 32 months, with the start date planned for June. The customer is Grupo Aeroportuario Ciudad México (GMCM), the company in charge of building and operating Mexico City's new international airport.
• Chile, Recursos Norte Mining Project (El Teniente Division): construction contract worth EUR 73 million (CLP 53.4 billion, first phase works), with a possible increase up to a maximum additional amount of EUR 85 million. Commissioned by CODELCO and to be performed in various phases by the end of 2022, the works are part of the project for the underground development of the El Teniente copper mine, stretching between elevations of 1,500 and 1,900 metres in the Andes, 80 kilometres south of Santiago de Chile. The phase-one works, for a value equalling EUR 73 million, involve designing and building 2 tunnels – one for access, the other to transport materials - totalling 5 kilometres in length; additional works are also planned for EUR 42 million, to be activated at the Customer’s request. The phase-two works, valued at EUR 43 million, refer to building an additional 2.6 kilometres of access tunnel. The activities are slated to begin within the first half of 2018. CODELCO (Corporación Nacional del Cobre de Chile), the world’s leading copper producer, is the Astaldi Group’s customer of long standing in the Chilean mining sector. El Teniente is one of its most productive mines, generating 8% of the country’s total copper output.
