Description
The Oryx GTL (Gas to Liquid) plant in Ras Laffan in Qatar is the first industrial plant in the world able to permanently convert natural gas into purified diesel and naphtha using a special reactor. The maximum production capacity is 34,000 barrels per day, of which 24,000 barrels of diesel, 9,000 of naphtha and the remaining 1,000 of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG).
Astaldi Group was involved in the construction project in the capacity of leader of a joint venture in relation to which it was specifically responsible for performance of civil works and steel structures and plant assembly and installation. The works were completed in just 30 months.
