Astaldi Group hereby announces that it has acquired two contracts in Romania to perform new works related to Line 5 of the Bucharest Underground (EUR 180 million, Astaldi has a 37% stake) and Mihai Flamaropol Sports Arena in Bucharest (EUR 28 million, Astaldi has a 65% stake).

The first contract involves architectural works, electro-mechanical systems and permanent way for the Drumul Taberei-Pantelimon section (Raul Doamnei-Opera section) of Line 5 of the Bucharest Underground, already under construction by Astaldi. Works will commence in July 2015 and last 16 months. They have been commissioned by METROREX S.A., operator of the Municipality of Bucharest’s underground network, controlled by the local Ministry of Transport and Infrastructures. Astaldi will perform the works in the capacity of leader of a group of companies comprising the Spanish firm, FCC S.A. (with a 37% stake) and two local companies.
The second contract involves refurbishment and upgrading of a sports facility used for skating with a total capacity of 3,100 seats and a total surface area of 22,600 m2. Works will commence in July 2015 and last 2 years. They have been commissioned by the Municipality of Bucharest and Astaldi will perform the works as part of a joint venture comprising the Romanian firm, UTI Group (with a 35% stake).
Astaldi Group has been present in Romania for over 20 years. It has already built more than 110 kilometres of railways and undergrounds, 250 kilometres of roads and motorways, two international airports (Henri Coanda in Bucharest and Avram Iancu in Cluj-Napoca) and the spectacular Basarab Overpass in Bucharest. At the present time, it is involved in construction of new sections of the Bucharest Underground (Lines 5 and 4) and Lots 1 and 2 of the Nădlac-Arad motorway, as well as Piata Sudului Underpass and A1-Curiel Expressway.
